| Appearance |
Bastion, and Icthius accordingly, are the perfect image of their species. Around four foot at the shoulder he is of a fair height, sporting customary long, feathered ears, and the curly beards of male Watari. His 'dorsal fin' is fairly short and pleasantly curved with no sharpness or jutting angles, denoting a fairly low rank for Bastion-Icthius. His tail, customary of Watari, splits into two ends, but is essentially one limb. His fur is thick and soft, and an almost uniform slate-grey in color, with just a tinge of blue-ishness to its hue. His only markings are black, dappled socks on all paws, trailing about mid-way up his forelimb. His front toes are also white, adding a nice contrast to his otherwise dark coloration.
Like all Watari, Bastion-Icthius has two heads. Not in the sense that there are two heads protruding from two necks, but rather that Bastion-Icthius have interchangeable heads. Only one is ever attached to the body at a time, white the other rests in a pouch resting against his dorsal fin. Both heads are fully capable of speaking, thinking, and moving facial muscles whether they are attached or not. Both heads also have received their owns names; Bastion and Icthius. Icthius and Bastion are nearly identical, except for their eye color. As well, Icthius' ears are slightly shorter than Bastion's. Bastion sports amber eyes, of a warm, golden hue, while Icthius's are muted and green in color. They are otherwise identical, making it difficult to tell who's head is currently in charge of the body.
Bastion-Icthius, being a healer, carries several amulets around with him at all times. These healing pendants, as they are commonly called, hang from his dorsal fin, attached by several thin, silver threads. Bastion-Icthius also sports a pouch made of soften rawhide that hangs around his neck, where the extra head is kept until their places must be switched.

| Personality |
Bastion and Icthius are very much two different people, there is no denying that their personalities differ greatly, and an immense change comes over them whenever the heads are switched. Those who enjoy Bastion's company rarely enjoy Icthius', and vice versa. Despite this, both heads tend to get along fairly well. There are, of course, days in which they cannot stand each other, but they always manage to pull through.
Bastion is an intellect, he enjoys reading and writing, studying his healing craft and acquiring new magical skills. He is very much an altruist and will not turn down any one who is in need of his assistance. He tends to be rather impatient, though, and gets frustrated when people don't cooperate with him. He feels rushed, and has no time to spend coaxing people into accepting his help. If he is refused he accepts the fact and continues on his way with little complaint. It upsets him, of course, to be disallowed to help someone, but life goes on. Bastion is very much a realist and dislikes dealing with overly pessimistic or optimistic people. He's mellow, calm, and enjoys the quiet.
Bastion views Icthius as a burden to be endured, a pest at worst, and a interesting conversationalist at best. He tends to get easily exasperated by the constant companionship of someone so much dislike him, and greatly desire the company of someone a little more...literary and logical. Never the less, Bastion does not (often) complain about Icthius, believing in keeping a stiff upper lip and enduring whatever he's going to get throw at him.
Icthius, very much unlike his constant companion Bastion, is loud-mouthed, rowdy, and always looking for adventure. He's just as intelligent as Bastion, but uses his brains for cunning and devious plans, rather than the pursuit of further knowledge. Icthius is determined to make something of himself. He has delusions of grandeur and often acts with a sense of superiority. He's eccentric and flamboyant, with a love for theater and of acting (and over-acting). The more dramatic the better, is his motto. Icthius is by no means a pleasant character, he's anti-social, feeling he has no time for equals, only subjects willing to fawn over him. He's very selfish, and is not afraid to admit it. He believes firmly in putting himself before others, and sees no logic or reason in causing one's self discomfort for the pleasure of others.
Icthius views Bastion in the same way he does everyone else; like an inferior who's only purpose is to make him happy. He is fondly affectionate toward the other head, but is certainly not against exploiting Bastion's altruism for his own benefit. Although just as adept at healing as Bastion, Icthius very rarely bothers to use his skills unless he's going to get something else in turn, no matter how dire the situaion may be. He enjoys being a manipulative bastard, and any ill thoughts directed toward him are simply banished from his mind. This Icthius-haters must be jealous of him. There's no other explanation for it. |
| Background |
Had a minor role in the overthrowing of their king, back on Ver'dar. Hired as a healer for the military during a revolution, Icthius forced Bastion to change sides.
A cataclysmic event destroyed their home planet. Bastion-Icthius was one of the few survivors. They, along with most of the remaining Watari, reside in the Refugium |
| Abilities |
Interchangeable heads. After a period of seven weeks, Bastion and Icthius must switch positions, allowing each head an equal amount of time in charge of the body. Both heads are fully capable of speaking, thinking, and moving facial muscles whether or not they are attached to the body.
Healing. Bastion and Icthius have fairly adept healing abilities, and are fully capable of utilizing magical herbs. They can seal minor wounds with little difficulty, and repair damaged bones and organs.
Dispel Disease. Bastion/Icthius can banish weak illnesses. They have also put much time and training into learning how to keep contagious diseases from spreading, and stunt the 'growth' of leprosy.
Ease Suffering. Allows Bastion/Icthius to dampen or dispel pain, either in himself or in others.
Instantaneous Self-healing. Customary to all Watari, if Bastion/Icthius suffers a flesh wound the tissue will instantly regenerate. This is what allows Bastion/Icthius to constantly severe their own head and force another into place.
Empathy. Occurs only between the two heads and the shared body. Both heads are capable of sensing the other's emotions, as well as feeling any pain or stress the shared body is feeling, whether or not their particular head is attatched to it at the time.
Influence. This ability is utilized by Icthius only, much to Bastion's misery. Influence allows Icthius to suggest a thought, action, or words, implanting the seed of the idea in the targets mind. He's fairly adept at the ability, giving him a high rate of success, especially around those he's 'close' to. |
