Setting

The Refugium is a massive space station dedicated to the conservation of rare and endangered bonding species. It facilitates finding candidates for clutches, rather than waiting for happenstance on distant homeworlds. Always expanding, the Refugium's many habitation decks are suitable for sustained existence on the station itself, boasting massive, cavernous holds that permit flight for winged species, and deep diving oceanic centers for swimmers.

The Refugium's hangar bay acts as a port for its many space faring vessels. It regularly sends out expeditions to the farthest corners of the universe in search of species in need. Smaller ships are sometimes tasked with the acquisition of suitable candidates, in the old weyr style of 'searching.'

Nearby is the planet Zar and two neighboring space stations: the Heimdall, a military research vessel, and Mwari Station, a bustling civilian habitation for those who don't enjoy living planet side.

Visitors to the Refugium have access to all decks apart from Research and Engineering.

Engineering - The uppermost deck, consisting of the Refugium engines and life support systems. Access prohibited to visitors.

Research Labs - Directly beneath engineering. Dedicated to researching the biology of endangered bonding species. Access prohibited to visitors.

Hangar Bay - Home to visiting space vessels and the dock for Refugium's own exploration and research fleet. Elevators available inside the hangar bay will lead visitors directly to the biome decks and Janos City.

Biome Decks - Most of Refugium is dedicated to these massive chambers, built to imitate a species Homeworld as accurately as possible for the comfort and health of its inhabitants. Each biome deck includes wide areas of carefully tended 'wilderness', housing for staff, residents, and visitors, and clutching bays which serve as holds for eggs and the arena where bonding takes place.

Janos City - A sprawling city of clustered business and recreational areas for visitors and residents alike to enjoy! Many of the Refugium's staff reside in apartments here, choosing the welcome sight of close steel walls to vast, open wilderness. Most streets are wide enough to accommodate medium-large dragons, but Janos was set up with humanoid comforts in mind.

Neighbors

Planet Zar

An earth-sized planet inhabited by Murdons, a six-limbed alien race. Known for its beautiful purple atmosphere and towering spiral cities. Zar welcomes visitors of all species, but recommends off-worlders remain in urban areas. Zar's ground level is filled with toxic gasses and the highly dangerous animals that adapted to live in this inhospitable terrain.

The Heimdall

A military research station whose services can be purchased by anyone with the right coin. Refugium has paid them a hefty fee to stay near and protect their conservation projects. Apart from boasting a large force of armed vessels and well trained soldiers, the Heimdall also regularly conducts bio-engineering experiments.

Civilians are not permitted access to the Heimdall without vetting and a security escort at all times.

Mwari Station

A large, bustling space station that holds millions of inhabitants, built by the murdon to escape their poisonous world. Most murdon reside here now, along with many other alien species (and humans, of course). A popular resort for those visiting the Refugium.
